Repte (catalán for “challenge”) is the personal challenge of the cellar. It is a 100% sumoll, an autochthonous varietal from Catalonia that has almost disappeared from the wine racks. To produce our sumoll we pick the grapes from a parcel of 67 year old vines. In the nose, we find red fruits like raspberry and cherry. In the mouth it has a very good acidity that makes it pleasant to drink, and certain dryness, characteristic of the varietal. Once opened, and after aeration, this wine gets to express its origin, showing notes of aromatic herbs like rosemary and thyme.
Year of planting: 1947
Winemaking and aging: 24 hour maceration, fermentation in chestnut barrels with autochthonous yeasts. After the malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels, where it stays for 8 months before bottling.
